Have you registered for Shirehike yet?
Shirehike has nearly 200 routes spread across the West Midlands - ranging from urban parks to countryside walks. All you need to do is sign up to see the list of walks, choose one and then head out with your families, friends, or Scout Groups (when risk assessed and allowed) to complete the route. When done, simply log the walk on the website by uploading photos of you completing the route. The star ratings of the routes add up and the badges are sent out automatically when you complete the right numbers of stars.
Not all the routes are out in the countryside. There are many routes within urban areas of Greater Birmingham including 9 in parks such as Cannon Hill, Perry Park, Sutton Park, etc.. Shirehike is a great excuse to get out and explore your local area and blow away the Christmas Cobwebs at the same time. We would also love to see some of your pictures of you completing the routes, so please post them here, or send them into info@birminghamscouts.org.uk
Important Information
Whilst Face 2 Face Scouting is now suspended, government guidance means that you can exercise outdoors in your support bubble (limited to once a day). This includes meeting one other person from another household in an open public space to exercise. Please be aware of the distance you are traveling to complete the routes and please stay local.
You can sign up anytime and the challenge runs between now and the 14th March 2021. So get registered, get out there and get Shirehiking!
